Meditation 101, Fridays at 12:15 pm and Saturdays at 10-11am

This is a six week course held three time up to June, in training in Buddhist meditation techniques that will enable you to gain control over your own mind; make your mind more peaceful; and develop minds that lead you towards happiness and away from difficulty and suffering.

Program:

Week 1
Overview of Buddhist Meditation, Benefits of Meditation, Two simple meditations in practice: Black and White breathing, and mounting the mantra Om Ah Hum on the breath.

Week 2
Watching the mind. How to use mindfulness meditation to break bad mental habits.

Week
Introduction to Lamrim, the "Lamp for the Path". The context of Heart Jewel. The motivation of the initial scope, and meditations on “death and impermanence,” and “this precious human life.”

Week 4
The intermediate scope. Meditation on Suffering.

Week 5
The great scope. Meditations on Love and Compassion.

Week 6
Meditation on Wisdom. Contemplating and Meditating on Emptiness.

$8 per session or $40 for the whole course.
